Asian Cricket Council (ACC) President and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has strongly rejected Indian media claims that he apologised to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) over the Asia Cup trophy row.
He labeled the reports as fabricated propaganda aimed at misleading the public.
Taking to his official X account, Naqvi dismissed the Indian media’s claims as “nothing but lies.” He said:
“I have done nothing wrong and I have never apologized to the BCCI, nor will I ever do so.”
He further stated that such fabricated stories are part of a conspiracy designed to damage his reputation and misinform Indian audiences.

The controversy erupted after reports suggested Naqvi had apologized to the BCCI in relation to the Asia Cup trophy and medal distribution. Indian media claimed he had agreed to hand them over under certain conditions.
Rejecting the narrative, Naqvi clarified that as ACC President, he was prepared to hand over the trophy on the very day of the final and remains willing to do so even now.
Politics in cricket criticised
Naqvi accused Indian authorities of mixing politics with cricket, saying such actions were harming the reputation of the sport.
“Unfortunately, India continues to drag politics into cricket, damaging the very spirit of the game,” he wrote.
He added that the BCCI President was ready to present the trophy to the champions and still remains open to doing so.
Invitation to Suryakumar Yadav
Reaffirming his stance, Naqvi said if India’s cricket team wishes to receive the trophy, they should approach the ACC office.
“The Indian captain should receive the trophy from me, and I will welcome him,” Naqvi declared.
