The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has issued a report on economic growth and inflation in South Asia, placing Pakistan near the bottom of regional rankings.
According to the report, Pakistan is expected to record economic growth of 3 per cent in the current financial year. This is the second lowest in South Asia, ahead of only Afghanistan, which is forecast to grow at 1.7 per cent.
India is projected to lead the region with 6.5 per cent growth, followed by Bhutan at 6 per cent. Sri Lanka is expected to grow at 3.3 per cent, while both Nepal and Pakistan are projected to grow at 3 per cent.
In terms of inflation, Pakistan ranks second highest in the region. Inflation is forecast to reach 6 per cent this year. Bangladesh is expected to record the highest rate at 8 per cent. Inflation in Sri Lanka and Nepal is projected at 4.5 per cent, in India at 4.2 per cent, and in Afghanistan at 1 per cent.
