Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti has said that terrorists enjoy “state patronage” in Afghanistan and are provided with safe havens to launch attacks inside Pakistan.
He stressed that those targeting unarmed citizens will not be spared under any circumstances.
Speaking at a press conference, the chief minister alleged that many terrorists killed in recent operations were Afghan nationals. He urged the Afghan Taliban government to abide by the Doha Agreement and stop allowing Afghan soil to be used against Pakistan.
Bugti said that extremists were being trained in camps across the border and were involved in targeting civilians and sensitive installations in Balochistan.
Intelligence-based operations in Chagai
Detailing a recent security operation, the CM said that forces conducted an intelligence-based raid in Chagai. Two terrorists, including Zubair alias Shahji, were killed, while another named Jahanzeb surrendered.
According to Bugti, Zubair was monitoring the movements of Chinese nationals and planning sabotage activities at the behest of Indian intelligence agency RAW. He was also recruiting for the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) in Dalbandin.
Terrorists linked to BRAS
The chief minister revealed that several banned outfits—including BLA and BLF—are operating collectively under the banner of BRAS. He said these groups were working to destabilize Balochistan, with support from foreign elements.
Bugti explained that Zubair used to track mining activity, movements of security forces, and Chinese projects in Chagai. Another terrorist, Nisar, was also killed in the same operation, while surrendered militant Jahanzeb confessed to multiple attacks in a recorded video statement.
Terror plots foiled
Bugti disclosed that a terrorist attack was planned for August 14, aiming to hit important installations in Balochistan. However, security forces acted in time and thwarted the plot.
He congratulated law enforcement agencies for capturing high-value targets and said that several future terror plans had been foiled. A security official was injured during the operation, and the CM prayed for his recovery.
No concessions for terrorists
The chief minister reiterated that peace in Balochistan would not be compromised. He warned that extremists trying to mislead the youth would face the full force of the state.
Bugti also highlighted that terrorists often destroy their mobile phones before dying to prevent forensic investigations, but intelligence agencies are continuing to expose their networks.
