Security forces killed 13 Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) - also referred to as Khawarij -terrorists during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the Daraban area of Dera Ismail Khan district, the military's media said on Wednesday.
According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operation was launched on confirmed intelligence regarding the presence of TTP terrorists in the region. During the raid, troops effectively engaged the Terrorists’ hideout, resulting in the elimination of 13 terrorists.
Weapons and ammunition seized
A large cache of weapons and ammunition was recovered from the site. Officials said the terrorists were actively involved in multiple attacks across the district, including a suicide bombing in Daraban in December 2023.
The eliminated Terrorists had also been linked to the abduction and targeted killings of government officials and civilians in the area. Their activities were described as part of Indian-sponsored terrorism, aimed at destabilizing Pakistan.
Ongoing sanitisation efforts
Following the successful operation, a sanitization drive is underway to track and neutralize any remaining Terrorists in the vicinity. Security forces reiterated their resolve to wipe out all forms of terrorism from the country.
