The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Islamabad has issued arrest warrants for PTI leader Asad Qaiser in connection with the Judicial Complex Attack case, which also involves the party’s founder and several senior leaders.
Arrest orders for Qaiser
ATC Judge Tahir Abbas Sipra heard the case on Monday. During the proceedings, the court ordered the arrest of former National Assembly speaker Asad Qaiser and directed that he be produced before the court.
The case, registered at the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) police station, accuses several PTI leaders of involvement in the attack on the Judicial Complex.
Exemptions granted to other leaders
While issuing warrants for Qaiser, the court also approved exemption requests filed on behalf of Parvez Elahi, Asad Umar, and Shibli Faraz, allowing them to skip personal appearances during this hearing.
These exemptions were granted after the leaders’ counsel submitted formal applications citing various reasons.
Pending response from Law Ministry
The ATC also noted that the letter sent to the Law Ministry regarding the PTI founder has not yet been responded to. Following these developments, Judge Sipra adjourned the hearing until October 6, when the court is expected to resume proceedings and review compliance with its arrest orders.
