Former Pakistan cricketer Mohammad Yousuf’s remark regarding India’s T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav was a slip of the tongue, according to inside sources.
The incident occurred following Pakistan’s Asia Cup match on Sunday. During a conversation, Yousuf made the comment after match referee Andy Pycroft allegedly stopped Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha from shaking hands with his Indian counterpart.
It is pertinent to note that the Indian players did not extend handshakes to the Pakistani team after the game.
Separately, Yousuf said on Tuesday that the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) decision to boycott the remaining fixtures of the Asia Cup 2025 would be a good step.
Speaking on Samaa TV’s programme "Zor Ka Jor", Yousuf said he would support the PCB in case it chooses not to participate in the rest of the tournament.
He added that the entire nation should also support the board’s decision regarding the boycott. Criticising the Indian cricket team, Yousuf said India were playing for money and deceiving their own people.
