Authorities have closed two key entrances to Islamabad’s Red Zone due to law and order concerns, prompting traffic diversions and delays in the capital.
Key entrances closed
According to Islamabad Traffic Police, Express Chowk and Nadra Chowk entrances to the Red Zone have been shut down. The decision was made in light of ongoing law and order considerations.
Alternative routes suggested
Commuters heading towards the Red Zone have been advised to use Margalla Road, Marriott Road, and Serena Road as alternative entry points. These routes will remain open for access to the high-security zone.
Expected traffic delays
Traffic police cautioned that vehicles will face slow movement and congestion due to diversions at Express Chowk and Nadra Chowk. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and allow extra travel time.
Guidance for commuters
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Hamza Humayun assured the public that traffic police officers will be present at multiple points across the city to guide and assist drivers affected by the diversions.
