Mobile applications, in addition to websites, were used in the illegal trade of stolen data, according to new findings by a special team of the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA).
During its ongoing investigation, the NCCIA team discovered that various apps had also been employed to sell data. According to sources, the team has begun analysing both websites and mobile applications involved in the activity. The scope of inquiry includes determining whether the data was stolen before or after 2023.
Authorities have decided to arrest individuals involved in selling data through these platforms. The websites and apps identified in the trade are to be permanently shut down. Legal proceedings under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) will be initiated against those found responsible.
