Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan on Wednesday described the flood situation in Punjab as “alarming,” warning that multiple rivers, including the Ravi, are witnessing high water levels.
The minister visited Shahdara on the Ravi River to review flood arrangements, inspect water flow, and receive a briefing from the local administration. He directed officials to provide all possible facilities to residents in affected areas.
‘Situation dangerous, caution needed’
Speaking to the media, Abdul Aleem Khan said that two to three rivers in Punjab are currently experiencing high-level flooding, including the Ravi River. He termed the situation “dangerous” and stressed the need for extreme caution.
The minister said that slum settlements along the river have already been evacuated to prevent loss of life. He added that embankments and protective structures are being monitored, while efforts are underway to strengthen flood safety arrangements.
