Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Tariq Fazal Chaudhry said on Tuesday that political arrogance of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan prevents resolution of issues
Speaking on Samaa TV’s programme "Nadeem Malik Live", Chaudhry said that the PTI made a mistake by choosing to confront the military establishment instead of political parties. He added that an atmosphere of reconciliation always existed, but the political arrogance of PTI’s founder has hindered resolution of matters.
The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader stalwart said that November 24 and 26 presented opportunities for negotiations. He said that if PTI decides politically today, space for dialogue will still exist.
Chaudhry stated that PTI’s leadership and its supporters outside the party remain hostage to social media narratives. He said that Imran Khan himself wanted dialogue but issues worsened due to Bushra Bibi.
On the subject of creating new provinces, he said consultation with allies and opposition would take place, and consensus would be necessary. Administrative reorganisation could prove beneficial.
Ahmed Bilal Mahboob on PTI’s situation
Pakistan Institute of Legislative Development and Transparency (PILDAT) head Ahmed Bilal Mahboob said that the PTI had ample opportunity to benefit from the situation. The party had been advised to pursue negotiations, and the doors to dialogue remain open.
He described Salman Akram Raja as a highly capable individual, stating that if he had exercised his authority, the matter might have reached resignation.
He added that demands for new provinces, including Bahawalpur, would resurface. Rather than creating provinces on administrative grounds, it would be better to strengthen local government. The structure of the four existing provinces should remain unchanged.
Sher Afzal Marwat on PTI’s internal dynamics
Member of National Assembly (MNA) Sher Afzal Marwat said that more of the PTI members favour reconciliation than discord. However, he sees little prospect of dialogue in the near future and stated that the government intends to continue with the current system.
He added that if he represented the PTI, he would not advise his clients to remain hidden. The situation PTI faces is unprecedented compared to that of PML-N and PPP.
Marwat said that negotiations were underway on November 24 and 25. A proposal was made to place a camp at Singjani to secure the release of PTI’s founder, but it was not accepted.
He suggested that the PTI founder should empower three or four trusted individuals. He opposed calls for resignation from committees and claimed that malicious decisions are being forced upon the founder.
Marwat said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa should be divided into three parts.
