Zafarwal and Dera Ghazi Khan witnessed two major security incidents as authorities recovered an Indian-made landmine near Nullah Dek and foiled a terrorist plot in Punjab’s border region.
Landmine recovered in Zafarwal
Security concerns heightened in Zafarwal after Civil Defense teams recovered an 18-pound landmine from the Deoli area. Officials stated that India has now started dumping explosives along with the water of Nullah Dek.
The landmine, confirmed to be Indian-made, was swiftly secured by Civil Defense before the Bomb Disposal Squad neutralized it. Authorities said timely action prevented a potential tragedy in the region.
Terrorist plot foiled in Dera Ghazi Khan
Meanwhile, in Dera Ghazi Khan, Punjab Police announced they had foiled a terrorist conspiracy by Fitna-ul-Khawarij. According to a police spokesperson, an improvised explosive device (IED) was found planted near the Jadewali cemetery in a sensitive border area.
The IED, allegedly meant to target security forces, was successfully defused during a joint search operation by local police, Special Operations Unit (SOU), and elite teams. Officials said the operation saved the area from a “major tragedy.”

The Dera Ghazi Khan district police officer confirmed that search operations in tribal and sensitive areas remain ongoing. He emphasized that Punjab Police and security forces are working around the clock to eliminate militant threats and safeguard local communities.
