A fresh spell of monsoon rains has begun in the federal capital and adjoining Rawalpindi, prompting the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to issue safety advisories for residents in vulnerable areas.
Authorities have warned of possible flash floods and landslides, particularly in Margalla Hills and nearby localities.
CDA urges citizens to remain cautious
The CDA has directed residents of Saidpur village and Sector E-11 to take extra precautions during the downpour, as rising water levels in Swan River and Korang Nallah pose serious risks. Citizens living near drains have also been asked to stay alert and avoid unnecessary movement during heavy rain.
Landslide and flood risks in Margalla Hills
According to officials, heavy showers in the Margalla Hills could trigger landslides, while overflowing drains may cause sudden flooding in low-lying neighbourhoods. The CDA stressed that residents should not throw garbage in storm drains or obstruct the natural flow of water, as this increases the risk of urban flooding.

Emergency services on high alert
CDA teams, along with Rescue 1122, Metropolitan Police, and the Municipal Services Directorate, have been placed on high alert to respond to emergencies. A spokesperson said machinery, rescue vehicles, and medical teams are already positioned at key points to ensure timely assistance in case of flooding or landslides.
Community cooperation needed
Authorities urged the public to follow official advisories and cooperate with rescue teams. “This is a critical time. Citizens must play their role by avoiding practices that block water flow and by helping authorities ensure safety,” the CDA spokesperson added.
