Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said efforts were underway to digitise the economy and transition financial transactions to a cashless system.
According to details, the premier chaired a meeting on Sunday to review progress on the cashless and digital economy initiative. During the session, the prime minister expressed satisfaction over the steps taken so far.

Addressing the meeting, PM Shehbaz said the government was working on a priority basis to digitise the economy and establish a cashless transaction system.
He directed all provincial chief secretaries to extend full cooperation to the federal government in expanding the Raast digital payment system to the district level.
Officials briefed the meeting that under Pakistan’s Digital Public Infrastructure initiative, digital IDs would be developed. These IDs would include information from national identity cards, biometric data and mobile phone numbers. All digital payments would be processed through these unified IDs.
