Defence Minister Khawaja Asif on Friday said that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was causing damage to India on both internal and external fronts.
Speaking to media, Asif said that the Indian opposition had gained politically from Modi’s failures, adding that dissent against the Modi-led government had become increasingly vocal within India.
Asif said Modi had resorted to anti-Pakistan rhetoric in an effort to protect his political standing. He said that India had lost its political and economic stability in recent months, which he attributed to Modi’s leadership.
The minister said that banned organisations such as the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) and Tehreek-e-Taliban were acting as Indian proxies. He said Indian citizens themselves were acknowledging that conflict had emerged due to Modi’s confrontational approach.
Asif said: "The country does not believe in nuclear blackmail,” adding that there was no reason for any state to feel threatened by Pakistan’s nuclear capabilities.
He added Modi appeared more focused on appeasing his voter base than on pursuing peace in the region.
Asif said, "Pakistan had already submitted evidence of Indian involvement in subversive activities at various international platforms."
Calling for regional stability, he emphasised that peace would only be possible if neighbouring countries acted with responsibility. He said the people of the subcontinent could witness economic growth and prosperity through mutual cooperation and good neighbourly relations.
