Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal said on Sunday that livestock forms a backbone of the country’s economy,
Addressing an event at the University of Narowal, he said: "Innovation in the dairy sector can improve the lives of farmers, while all sectors must contribute effectively to achieve Pakistan’s national development goals."
Iqbal said: "Pakistan currently ranks as the fifth-largest milk-producing country in the world," adding that the establishment of a veterinary university in Narowal aims to modernise dairy infrastructure.
He expressed hope that Narowal would become the most developed district in the agriculture and livestock sectors.
At the same event, Iqbal distributed motorcycles to members of the dairy staff.
