Three suspects were killed and a police officer was seriously injured during two separate operations conducted by the Crime Control Department (CCD) in Lahore and Kabirwala, according to police sources.
In Lahore, CCD personnel engaged in an exchange of fire with wanted individuals in the Chuhang area. Two suspects, Shoaib and Zubair – both in custody at the time – were killed during the confrontation. Police stated that the suspects had allegedly abducted and assaulted a 13-year-old girl in Manga Mandi two days prior.
During the exchange, Sub-Inspector Shabbir sustained serious injuries. Inspector Imran Yousaf, also present at the scene, was struck by gunfire; however, his bulletproof vest prevented serious harm.
Police confirmed that both deceased suspects had prior criminal records.
Separately, in Kabirwala, a shootout occurred between CCD personnel and armed robbers in the jurisdiction of Haveli Koranga police station. One suspect, Ghulam Sarwar was shot dead. His accomplice managed to flee the scene.
The incident took place when the suspects, riding a motorcycle, opened fire at a checkpoint instead of stopping, attempting to escape.
According to CCD Kabirwala in-charge, Rai Nazakat Ali, Ghulam Sarwar had a lengthy criminal record and was wanted in more than 15 serious cases.
Police have launched a search operation to apprehend the absconding suspect.
