The Sindh Education Department has announced that all government and private educational institutions across the province will remain closed on Friday, August 15, in observance of the chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA).
According to an official notification, the holiday applies to all schools, colleges, and universities in Sindh. The decision has been taken to mark the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), a day of mourning observed by millions across the world.

Closure for both public and private institutions
The Sindh Education Department confirmed that the closure will be implemented uniformly across government and private institutions.

Chehlum in Pakistan
The day is observed 40 days after Ashura, commemorating the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions in the Battle of Karbala.
Pakistan's Independence Day and the chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) fall just before the next weekend, giving the people of Sindh four consecutive holidays.

According to a Cabinet Division notification, Thursday, August 14 will be a national public holiday to commemorate Independence Day. The chehlum will fall on Friday, August 15. While the chehlum is not among this year's official federal holidays, the Sindh government has declared it a holiday.
Citizens will benefit from a rare four-day break from August 14 to 17, as Saturday and Sunday fall after these two important days.
