The sugar supply in Lahore has started to stabilise, but prices remain out of control in several areas on Friday.
According to the district administration, the official retail price of sugar is set at Rs173 per kilogram, with compliance being observed in major wholesale markets.
However, in residential areas and local shops, sugar is still being sold between Rs190 and Rs200 per kilogram.
Since July 25, over 1,900 tonnes of sugar have been supplied to Lahore markets, with an additional 1,700 tonnes expected to arrive soon, officials said.
Punjab government has intensified its crackdown against those selling sugar at inflated rates.
Over 30,000 enforcement actions have been carried out across the province. So far, 2,092 individuals have been arrested and 361 FIRs registered for profiteering and violating price control measures.
