In preparation for the chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain, the Punjab Home Department has ramped up security across the province, including the potential deployment of the Pakistan Army and Rangers.

Army, Rangers to be deployed across Punjab
According to official sources, personnel from the Pakistan Army and paramilitary Rangers will be stationed in sensitive cities and hot spots during chehlum processions. The deployment also includes local police force to ensure law and order.
The decision was made in coordination with intelligence inputs highlighting specific hotspots where additional forces are needed to maintain peace.
61 religious speakers banned from entering Punjab
In a key move to curb sectarian tensions, the Punjab Home Department has banned 61 individuals from entering the province and delivering speeches here. These individuals have been identified as “provocative speakers” likely to incite unrest.
A list of 91 speakers was initially sent by the Punjab Inspector General (IG) Office. After thorough vetting, 61 were found to pose a security risk and have now been barred under the Punjab Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) Ordinance, 1960. A formal notification has been issued following approval from the department.
Security also tightened for Urs
The Home Department stated that similar security measures are in place for the Urs of Hazrat Ali Hajveri, popularly known as Data Sahib. Law enforcement has completed its planning and is working closely with other agencies to prevent any disruption during these religious events.
