President Asif Ali Zardari met with his Iranian counterpart, Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, at the Presidency, where both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to expanding Pakistan-Iran relations and enhancing cooperation in areas of mutual benefit.
During the meeting, President Zardari highlighted the deep-rooted ties between the two countries, grounded in shared religion, culture, and mutual respect. He emphasized the importance of coordinated diplomatic efforts to ensure peace and stability in the region.
The president lauded Iran’s principled stance and solidarity during difficult times and expressed gratitude for Iran's consistent support, particularly the backing of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei on the issue of Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
Zardari strongly condemned Israeli aggression against Iran and praised the courage and unity demonstrated by the Iranian nation during the recent 12-day conflict.
President Zardari expressed hope that President Pezeshkian’s visit would further strengthen bilateral ties.
In response, President Pezeshkian thanked the leadership and people of Pakistan for their support during the conflict and acknowledged Pakistan's constructive role in promoting de-escalation and peaceful resolution of disputes.
Both leaders held in-depth discussions on regional and global issues and agreed to continue working together for a peaceful and prosperous future for the region.
