Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi on Saturday met with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar at the Foreign Office in Islamabad, reaffirming the two countries’ shared commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations across multiple sectors.
Araqchi, who is accompanying Iranian President Dr Masoud Pezeshkian on his official visit to Pakistan, was warmly received by Ishaq Dar upon his arrival at the Foreign Office. The meeting was marked by cordiality and a shared vision to deepen collaboration between the two neighbouring countries.

Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar described the meeting as a “source of joy,” saying, “We are brothers, and every meeting brings us closer. Today we discussed not only bilateral matters but also regional and international developments.”

A key highlight of the meeting was the reaffirmation of the decision made by President Pezeshkian and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to raise bilateral trade between Pakistan and Iran to $10 billion annually. Araqchi and Dar expressed confidence that this ambitious target is achievable through increased connectivity, smoother border trade, and institutional cooperation.
Both sides acknowledged the historical, cultural, and religious ties that bind the two nations and stressed the importance of maintaining close diplomatic engagements to address shared challenges and opportunities in the region.
