Pakistan and Iran are poised to significantly expand bilateral ties, with a bold target of taking two-way trade to $10 billion, as Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian visits Islamabad for a high-level visit.
According to official sources, the Iranian president will join Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in an important session of the Pakistan-Iran Joint Business Forum scheduled for tomorrow (Sunday). The forum aims to develop a concrete roadmap for strengthening economic, trade, and defense cooperation between the two neighbouring nations.
President Pezeshkian is expected to address the forum, outlining Tehran’s vision for expanding commercial and strategic ties with Pakistan. Discussions will focus on removing longstanding trade barriers between the two countries, boosting border trade, and creating new mechanisms to facilitate smoother and more secure transactions.

Sources say that Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan will formally receive the Iranian delegation. A presentation by the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) will outline policy suggestions and commercial opportunities to bolster trade volumes.
Prominent figures, including the Iranian ambassador, the governor general of Iran’s Sistan-Baluchestan province, and the Balochistan chief minister, are also slated to address the gathering. The engagement underscores the growing economic and political significance of regional trade, particularly in the border provinces.
