Police have arrested the main suspects involved in the brutal torture and murder of a student at a religious seminary in Khwazakhela, District Police Officer (DPO) Muhammad Omar Khan claimed on Monday.
The key suspect, identified as Qari Omar and his son Ehsan, had reportedly fled following the incident but were apprehended after “tireless efforts,” the DPO said in a statement.
The tragic incident occurred on July 21, when a young student at the madrassa was allegedly tortured to death. The case sparked outrage across the region and prompted swift action from local law enforcement.
“Ten individuals involved in the incident were arrested on the spot,” DPO Khan stated. However, the prime accused initially managed to escape.
After nearly a week-long manhunt, the police succeeded in tracing and arresting Qari Omar and his son, bringing the total number of arrests in the case to 12.

The Swat DPO reiterated the department’s commitment to justice, assuring the public that no one involved in the heinous act would be spared.
A tragic incident shook the Chaliyar area of Khwazakhela tehsil in Swat, where a 12-year-old madrassa student, identified as Farhan, reportedly died due to severe torture allegedly inflicted by his teachers.
According to police officials, Farhan was brutally beaten by the teachers of a religious seminary for being absent from classes. The child was shifted to a hospital in critical condition but was declared dead upon arrival.
Following the incident, a first information report (FIR) was registered against Muhammad Omar, the head teacher of the madrassa, and his sons Ehsanullah and Abdullah. The police confirmed that Abdullah had been arrested, while raids were being conducted to apprehend the remaining two suspects.
In addition to the three main suspects, the Khwazakhela Police Station also registered a case against seven more madrassa teachers after complaints were lodged by two other children. All 10 individuals faced charges related to the death of Farhan and the abuse of students.
