Kristin Cabot, the Chief People Officer of tech startup Astronomer, has resigned following a viral video showing her in an intimate moment with CEO Andy Byron during a Coldplay concert in Boston.
The clip, which caught the two on a 'kiss cam' and was later called out by lead singer Chris Martin, sparked widespread attention online.
Cabot’s departure comes just days after Byron, who is married with children, also stepped down from his role as CEO. A company spokesperson confirmed Cabot’s resignation in an email on Thursday, stating simply, “Kristin Cabot is no longer with Astronomer, she has resigned.”
The incident occurred when Cabot and Byron were caught on the venue’s big screen during the concert. Upon realizing they were on camera, the pair quickly ducked, prompting Martin to comment from the stage, “Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy.” The moment was captured by an attendee and quickly went viral.
Both Cabot and Byron have since been removed from Astronomer’s leadership webpage.
Astronomer, a company that commercializes open-source software, recently made headlines in May after securing a $93 million investment round led by Bain Ventures and Salesforce Ventures. The recent controversy has drawn unexpected national attention to the firm.
In a statement earlier this week, interim CEO Pete DeJoy acknowledged the media spotlight, calling it an "unexpected moment" that had made Astronomer "a household name — for reasons we did not anticipate."
