Lahore Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Athar Waheed has revealed that even law enforcers themselves are among the worst violators of traffic regulations.
According to the CTO, a surprising 93 police officers were fined in a single day for violating traffic rules. “The mission is clear — no one is above the law,” Athar Waheed said, adding that those tasked with upholding the law must lead by example.
Taking a strong stance, the CTO also announced that lawyers will not be exempted from traffic laws either. “If the bar wishes to go on strike, they are free to do so — but helmets will be mandatory for all riders, including lawyers,” he asserted.
Since taking charge, CTO Athar Waheed said traffic authorities have arrested over 27,000 individuals for various traffic violations.
“Whether it’s a common citizen, a police officer, or a lawyer — everyone must follow the rules. If we want safer roads, accountability must begin at the top,” he stated.
