A Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) employee has been taken into custody for allegedly stealing a female passenger’s luggage at Jinnah International Airport.
According to initial reports, the incident occurred after a PIA flight (PK-305) from Lahore landed in Karachi. A female passenger on board the flight lodged a complaint with the airport administration, stating that her bag was missing upon arrival.
Airport sources said that the alleged suspect, identified as Tariq Ali, is an employee of PIA’s engineering department. He was apprehended following a brief scuffle when the authorities attempted to take him into custody.
“With the assistance of Karachi Airport administration, the missing bag, which contained the passenger’s belongings, was recovered,” a senior official familiar with the matter confirmed.
The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) has handed over the accused to the Airport Security Force (ASF) for further investigation. Officials also confirmed that Tariq Ali’s airport entry pass has been confiscated pending the outcome of the probe.
An internal investigation has been initiated by PIA as well, sources said, while the ASF is expected to submit a preliminary report within the coming days.
