A tragic incident has shaken the Chaliyar area of Khwazakhela tehsil in Swat, where a 12-year-old madrassa student, identified as Farhan, reportedly died due to severe torture allegedly inflicted by his teachers.
According to police officials, Farhan was brutally beaten by the teachers of a religious seminary for being absent from classes. The child was shifted to a hospital in critical condition but was declared dead upon arrival.
Following the incident, a first information report (FIR) has been registered against Muhammad Omar, the head teacher of the madrassa, and his sons Ehsanullah and Abdullah. The police confirmed that Abdullah has been arrested, while raids are being conducted to apprehend the remaining two accused, who are currently on the run.
In addition to the three main suspects, the Khwazakhela Police Station has also registered a case against seven more madrassa teachers after complaints were lodged by two other children. All 10 individuals are now facing charges related to the death of Farhan and the abuse of students.
A police spokesperson confirmed that law enforcement is making every effort to arrest all those involved in the incident.
Public outrage and protests
The incident has sparked widespread outrage in the local community. Angry residents staged a protest by placing Farhan's body on the road, demanding immediate justice and the arrest of all accused.
Protesters condemned the violence inflicted on children in the name of discipline and called for strict legal action against those responsible. They urged the government to ensure better regulation of religious seminaries to prevent such tragedies in the future.
