The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has launched a major operation by formally elevating the Kohistan corruption case from an inquiry to a full investigation, during which assets worth Rs25 billion have been recovered and frozen.
Contractor Muhammad Ayub was arrested during the operation. His interrogation led to the disclosure of suspicious dealings with influential individuals. As a result, over Rs1 billion in cash, foreign currency, and three kilograms of gold were seized.
In addition, 73 bank accounts were frozen, leading to the recovery of Rs5 billion. NAB also seized 77 luxury vehicles, collectively valued at more than Rs940 million.
Confiscated properties include 30 residential houses, 25 flats, 12 commercial plazas, 12 shops, four farmhouses, penthouses, and 175 kanals of agricultural land.
These properties were recovered from Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Abbottabad and Mansehra, with their total estimated value exceeding Rs17 billion.
