A gas pipeline supplying natural gas to Punjab was blown up in the Wanda Ameer area of Lakki Marwat district during the early hours of Wednesday.
The explosion, which occurred under the cover of darkness, was reportedly carried out by unidentified individuals. Residents said the blast was loud enough to be heard several kilometres away.
Soon after the explosion, a heavy contingent of police and officials from the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) reached the site to assess the damage and secure the area.
Police officials said that this particular pipeline has been targeted on multiple occasions in the past. “This is not the first time this section of the pipeline has been blown up."
