Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said Pakistan’s support during the war with Israel will never be forgotten, stressing that unity among Muslim countries was essential to counter the divisive agenda of the "Zionist regime".
He expressed these views during a meeting with Pakistan’s Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi in Tehran, where the two leaders discussed matters of mutual interest, including regional stability, Pak-Iran bilateral relations, and prospects for enhanced cooperation.
According to a statement issued after the meeting, President Pazeshkian said he deeply valued Tehran’s long-standing ties with Islamabad and recalled how Pakistan had stood by Iran in difficult times.
“The Pakistani Parliament was the first to pass a resolution in our support. Your government raised a voice against the aggression on every international forum. This sincerity can never be forgotten,” President Pazeshkian was quoted as saying.
He further stated that the Israeli government was continuously working to create divisions within the Muslim world. “The only way forward is for Islamic nations to realise the importance of unity. A collective front can prove pivotal in resisting Zionist oppression,” he added.
Interior Minister Naqvi, who is on an official visit to Tehran, congratulated the Iranian leadership on what he termed a “great victory” in the war. He praised the resolve of the Iranian people and credited Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei’s leadership and President Pazeshkian’s strategic decisions for the outcome.
“Your nation’s resilience and your wise leadership are a source of pride for the entire Muslim Ummah,” Naqvi said.
Naqvi reiterated Pakistan’s firm support for Iran’s right to self-defence, calling the Israeli aggression unprovoked and unlawful. He noted that Pakistan had consistently condemned the attack and extended diplomatic support at regional and international levels.
He also conveyed a message of goodwill and respect from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to President Pazeshkian, reaffirming Islamabad’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties.
President Pazeshkian, expressing satisfaction over the current level of Pak-Iran engagement, called for further diplomatic exchanges and constructive dialogue to promote comprehensive cooperation.
“There are tremendous opportunities for both countries to collaborate across multiple sectors,” he noted.
The meeting was also attended by Iranian Interior Minister Sikandar Momeni, the Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan, and Pakistan’s Ambassador to Iran.
