Saudi Arabia has revised the official public holiday policy for Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Adha.
According to the official gazette Umm Al-Qura, the Saudi cabinet has approved an amendment to its previous decision regarding the appropriate number of public holiday days during both Eid celebrations.
As per the report, the holidays for both Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Adha will now range between a minimum of four working days and a maximum of five working days. This applies to employees working under the Civil Service Law and to those in government entities that implement the Civil Service system.
The amendment stated that previous provisions will not apply to individuals employed in government entities that operate under the Civil Service system, except for those whose contracts are in accordance with the regulations governing the functions of ministries and assistant ministries, and those covered under the structured rules of the Efficiency Enhancement Programme.
- Contracted individuals -
For contracted individuals, the public holiday limits specified in the first clause of the decision will apply. The head of the institution will have the authority to convert any holiday period exceeding five days into remote work, as deemed appropriate.
It is worth noting that public holidays in Saudi Arabia for Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Adha are announced based on prevailing circumstances.
