In a shocking case of animal cruelty, a woman identified as Khansa Hussain has been arrested by Defence police in Lahore for allegedly torturing and killing pets and uploading graphic content to her social media account.
Authorities say she is believed to be mentally unstable.
According to police officials, the woman had been posting disturbing images and videos of injured and dead animals on Instagram. The investigation revealed that she had been abusing multiple pets, many of whch were found dead at her residence during a raid.
Police said the suspect also operated a social media account where she tagged animals and pressured users to purchase them, raising further concerns about exploitation and mental health.
Several live animals, including rabbits, ducks, cats, squirrels, and various birds, were found at her home in distressing conditions. These animals were immediately rescued and handed over to the Wildlife Department for care and rehabilitation.
A case has been registered against Khansa Hussain under relevant sections of the Wildlife Protection Act, and she has since been shifted to a mental health facility for evaluation.
Police officials urged citizens to report any suspicious activity involving animal abuse on social media and called on tech platforms to monitor such content more strictly.
