Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed on Wednesday Pakistan’s commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations across trade, investment, defence, technology and other key sectors with Turkiye.
According to details, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Defence Minister Yasir Guler called on the prime minister in Islamabad. The meeting was also attended by Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal General Syed Asim Munir, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, and National Security Adviser Lt Gen Muhammad Asim Malik.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz welcomed the Turkish delegation and expressed satisfaction with the positive momentum in Pakistan-Türkiye relations. He reiterated that both nations would continue to support each other in safeguarding their core national interests.
PM stresses strategic partnership with Turkiye
The Turkish foreign and defence ministers held detailed discussions with the Pakistani leadership, focusing on elevating ties into a strategic partnership. The prime minister reaffirmed his government’s strong resolve to deepen cooperation in multiple areas, including defence, economic development, investment, and technological advancement.
The prime minister also welcomed the convening of the Joint Commission meeting, co-chaired by Ishaq Dar and Hakan Fidan, and expressed hope that the forum would further strengthen bilateral ties and promote collaboration in multidimensional sectors.
Call for stronger ties amid regional turmoil
Highlighting the rapidly changing regional and global environment, particularly concerning Gaza and Iran, the prime minister stressed the importance of maintaining close diplomatic engagement between the two countries.
He once again extended heartfelt thanks to the leadership and people of Turkiye for their consistent support during Pakistan’s recent tensions with India.
Joint economic targets and Turkish investment invited
The prime minister underscored the need for both sides to make concrete efforts to achieve the mutual trade target of USD 5 billion. He also emphasised Pakistan’s investor-friendly policies and invited Turkish companies to expand their presence in Pakistan. He encouraged Türkiye to actively participate in Pakistan’s structural reforms and ongoing economic growth initiatives.
Subsequently, the Turkish ministers wrapped up their visit to Pakistan.
