Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian on the sidelines of the 17th Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Summit, where both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to advancing regional peace through dialogue and diplomacy.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz and President Pezeshkian conducted a comprehensive review of the ongoing bilateral cooperation across various sectors and expressed satisfaction with the progress made on decisions taken during their previous interaction. The leaders pledged to further strengthen Pakistan-Iran relations through mutual coordination and constructive engagement.

A key focus of the discussion was the evolving regional situation, particularly in the wake of Israel's recent aggression against Iran. Prime Minister Shehbaz strongly condemned the Israeli actions and reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity with Iran, reiterating support for peaceful resolution of conflicts in the region.

“Iran’s decision to observe restraint and move toward a ceasefire was a wise and commendable step,” Shehbaz remarked, while praising President Pezeshkian’s leadership during the crisis.

Pezeshkian, in response, appreciated Pakistan’s strong diplomatic backing, including its stance at international forums. He thanked Pakistan for playing a vital role in de-escalating tensions during a critical time.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also conveyed his warm greetings and best wishes to Iran’s Supreme Leader, through President Pezeshkian, as a gesture of goodwill and brotherhood between the two countries.
Meeting with Uzbek president
Later, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. During the meeting, both leaders expressed satisfaction with the strong and growing cooperation between Pakistan and Uzbekistan at bilateral and multilateral levels.
They emphasized the deep-rooted cultural, civilizational, and historical ties that bind the two nations, and reaffirmed their commitment to further deepen and diversify their long-standing brotherly relations.

Prime Minister Shehbaz and President Mirziyoyev agreed to enhance collaboration in key areas, including trade, investment, regional security, and connectivity projects.
Both leaders particularly highlighted the importance of the Trans-Afghan Railway Project, terming it vital for enhancing regional integration and economic development.
They also exchanged views on regional and global developments, and agreed to undertake mutual visits to Tashkent and Islamabad in the near future to finalize pending agreements and advance joint initiatives.
