The district administration of Peshawar has launched a unique and inspiring initiative to encourage the habit of reading among its citizens. Under the campaign titled “Karwan-e-Kitab” (Books Caravan), a specially designated vehicle is being taken to various public places across the city.
The purpose of this campaign is to bring books directly to people's doorsteps and make reading accessible to all.
Peshawar, known for its rich history, culture, and literary heritage, is now becoming a vibrant hub for promoting reading through this mobile library project. The initiative aims to cultivate a love for reading among people of all age groups, strengthen their relationship with knowledge, and revive the social and educational role of libraries within the community.
Hayatabad Assistant Commissioner Haseena Kamran appreciated the efforts and highlighted the importance of bringing books closer to the people, especially in public spaces where access to libraries may be limited. She emphasized that such campaigns can spark intellectual curiosity and promote a reading culture in society.
The “Karwan-e-Kitab” is widely welcomed by citizens from all walks of life. It is seen as a valuable step in making books more accessible and in fostering a well-read, aware, and informed community.
The moving library is breathing new life into Peshawar’s passion for knowledge. Initiatives like “Karwan-e-Kitab” can serve as milestones in building a brighter and more conscious society.
