Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leadership has reportedly reached out to Maulana Fazlur Rehman in a bid to secure his support amid growing speculation about the possible fall of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government following the decision on reserved seats.
Sources say PTI’s top leadership approached the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief, requesting him to back the provincial government. However, Maulana Fazlur Rehman has shown no interest in intervening in the province’s political affairs.
According to insiders, Maulana Fazlur Rehman clearly stated that he has no desire to either save or topple the KP government, nor is he interested in joining the federal or provincial setups.
The JUI-F chief reportedly told PTI leaders that the KP government had already failed, citing rampant corruption, poor governance, and deteriorating law and order in the province. He urged PTI’s leadership to decide for themselves whether the provincial government should continue under such circumstances.
The political uncertainty in KP comes after a pivotal court ruling on reserved seats, intensifying pressure on PTI’s provincial administration.
