The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) on Tuesday revealed that an average inflation rate was recorded 4.49 per cent in the fiscal year 2024-25.
According to details, inflation was recorded 3.23 per cent in June. The PBS said that inflation increased by 0.23 per cent in June as compared to May. Inflation increased by 0.8 per cent in urban areas in June 2025.
Annual inflation remained three per cent in urban areas in June 2025.
Meanwhile, inflation increased by 0.47 per cent in rural areas in June 2025. Annual inflation recorded 3.58 per cent in rural areas.
– Prices of 16 food items increased this month –
The PBS reported a price hike in 16 essential food items during the current month, while prices of 8 items saw a decline.
Tomatoes became 57.33% more expensive, potatoes rose by 25.74%, onions by 15.26%, and eggs by 8.82%.
Flour and sugar each recorded a 1.53% increase, while rice prices went up by 1.67%.
Chicken prices surged by 34.97%, wheat-based products decreased by 2%, and fresh vegetables became 1.62% cheaper.
Electricity charges rose by 5.52%, public transport fares increased by 1.43%, and medicines saw a price rise of 1.26%.
