A sub-committee of the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Inter-Provincial Coordination held a meeting at the Inter Board Committee of Chairmen (IBCC) regarding the issue of Cambridge exam paper leaks in 2025.
The meeting was chaired by Sub-Committee Convener Sabeen Ghouri, who highlighted the ongoing debate on social media about the leaked papers.
Committee members expressed concerns over the proposed re-take option for final-year students, suggesting it may not be a feasible solution.
During the session, Member National Assembly Abdul Aleem Khan raised a significant question, asking, "Has Cambridge ever paid taxes to the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR)?"
Responding to various queries, Cambridge representatives stated that this is a global issue, and they have been conducting examinations for 150 years, even during world wars. Cambridge’s representative Uzma Yousaf added that the tax payment matter falls under the jurisdiction of two governments.
She also informed the committee that action is being taken against those responsible for the paper leaks.
Convener Sabeen Ghouri pointed out that despite the passage of 30 days, no legal document has been received from the Ministry of Education. She questioned whether the ministry had obtained any signed documents from Cambridge. Ministry officials confirmed that no such signed documents have been received to date.
The committee will continue to probe the matter further to ensure accountability and transparency in the examination process.
