In the wake of the tragic incident in Swat where several tourists drowned in a sudden flood surge, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has taken strict administrative action against multiple government officials for negligence and poor crisis management.
According to the chief minister’s spokesperson, Faraz Mughal, several district and rescue officials have been suspended following an initial review of the events that led to the deaths of tourists during the flash flooding in Swat’s river areas.
Key suspensions:

Babuzai assistant commissioner has been suspended for a slow and delayed response to the emergency situation.

Khawazakhela assistant commissioner has been removed from duty for failing to issue timely advance warnings despite the weather alerts.

Additional deputy commissioner (ADC) relief has been suspended for not making necessary pre-emptive arrangements to prevent such a tragedy.

The district in-charge of Rescue 1122 has also been suspended for inadequate preparedness and poor response coordination.

Formal inquiry launched
CM Gandapur has also directed the Chief Minister's Inspection Team (CMIT) to launch a formal and detailed inquiry into the incident. The objective of the probe is to determine the full extent of negligence and identify all those responsible for the administrative failures.
“The CM has made it clear that no one responsible for endangering public safety will be spared. More suspensions and disciplinary action may follow once the inquiry is complete,” the spokesperson stated.
