Pakistan has strongly condemned the recent US and Israeli strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities, terming them a violation of international law and United Nations resolutions.
Speaking at an emergency session of the Security Council in New York, Pakistan’s permanent representative to the UN, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar, voiced grave concern over what he called "aggression" targeting Iran’s nuclear infrastructure.
“The attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities are a clear violation of the UN Charter and relevant Security Council resolutions,” he said. “Pakistan demands an immediate and unconditional ceasefire.”
Ambassador Iftikhar stressed that such actions would only exacerbate an already fragile regional security environment. He warned that continued escalation between the United States, Israel, and Iran risked triggering a wider conflict.

“The US strikes will further increase tensions in the region. The Security Council must act with urgency to reduce hostilities and prevent a broader war,” he said.

The Pakistani envoy also underscored the need for dialogue and diplomacy, calling for a peaceful resolution through negotiations.
“Diplomacy must be given a fair chance,” he noted. “Pakistan strongly supports Iran’s right to self-defence under international law and expresses full solidarity with the people and government of Iran.”
He added that Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister was actively engaged in diplomatic efforts aimed at restoring peace in the region and urged world powers to support a resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire and return to talks.
“We appeal to all Council members to endorse the draft resolution that demands an unconditional ceasefire and a resumption of meaningful dialogue,” Ambassador Iftikhar said.
In a separate intervention, Pakistan’s representative Iftikhar Ahmad echoed similar sentiments, stating: “The attacks carried out by the United States and Israel are not just a breach of Iran’s sovereignty, but a blatant violation of international law. The Security Council must reject these actions and take a principled stand.”
Pakistan’s strong condemnation comes amid growing criticism from several global powers, including Russia and China, who have also spoken out against the military strikes and warned of their potential consequences.
Tehran has maintained that it reserves the right to respond to the attacks under Article 51 of the UN Charter, which permits self-defence in the case of an armed assault.
