Pakistan has secured a place in the semi-finals of the Asian Volleyball Championship after a thrilling 3-1 victory over Indonesia in the quarter-final clash held in Bahrain on Saturday.
The Pakistani squad displayed exceptional skill and teamwork, bouncing back strongly after losing the first set to clinch the next three in dominant fashion. The final scoreline stood at 25-20, 21-25, 20-25, 17-25, sealing Pakistan’s place among the top four teams in the tournament.
Pakistan continued its impressive run at the AVC Men’s Volleyball Nations Cup, storming into the semi-finals after a thrilling 3-1 victory over Indonesia in the quarter-final held at Isa bin Rashid Hall in Manama.
The match began with a setback for the green shirts, as Indonesia took the opening set 25-20 in 26 minutes, putting early pressure on Pakistan. However, the national team responded brilliantly, clinching the second set 25-21 after a 28-minute tactical battle to level the contest.
With momentum on their side, Pakistan dominated the next two sets — winning 25-20 and 25-17 — to seal the match and maintain their unbeaten record in the tournament. Their opponent in the semi-final will be decided after the remaining quarter-final fixtures.
Pakistan entered the knockout stage as Group C leaders, having won all of their group matches. They opened their campaign with a solid 3-1 win over the Philippines, asserting early control with victories in the first two sets. Despite dropping the third, Pakistan bounced back to secure the fourth and final set convincingly.
Their semi-final qualification was confirmed before their last group match, thanks to Chinese Taipei’s victory over the Philippines. The final Group C fixture between Pakistan and Chinese Taipei became a battle for the top spot, with Pakistan narrowly edging out a dramatic 3-2 win.
In that match, Pakistan surged ahead by winning the first two sets, capitalizing on Chinese Taipei’s errors. However, their opponents came back strong to level the match at 2-2. In a nail-biting decider, Pakistan overturned an 8-5 deficit and eventually clinched victory by converting their third match point at 18-16.
With three impressive wins under their belt, Pakistan now eyes a place in the final, riding high on form, resilience, and momentum.
