Punjab Police has issued a comprehensive security advisory to ensure peace and safety during the sacred month.
According to the advisory, all senior officers, including the CCPO Lahore and field commanders across Punjab, have been directed to implement foolproof security measures for processions and religious gatherings. Additional Inspector General (AIG) Operations, Zahid Nawaz Marwat, emphasized the importance of maintaining close coordination with religious scholars, peace committees, and organizers of majalis and processions.
“No processions or gatherings will be allowed outside of the pre-approved routes and designated locations,” said Marwat. He also stressed strict enforcement of the Loudspeaker Act and made it clear that unauthorized use of drones during processions and majalis will not be tolerated.
“Any violations will result in immediate legal action,” he added.
Regional Police Officers (RPOs), City Police Officers (CPOs), District Police Officers (DPOs), and traffic officials have been instructed to personally oversee security arrangements during Muharram. Zahid Nawaz Marwat also directed enhanced security at mosques, imambargahs, and minority worship places across the province.
