Punjab’s newest Central Business District (CBD) roadway, Route 47, has officially opened to traffic, dramatically cutting travel time between Gulberg and Walton to just a few minutes.
The dual carriageway spans 4.5 kilometres and features three lanes in each direction, providing a direct link from Leader Road in Gulberg to CBD Gate Walton.
Chief Executive of CBD Punjab, Imran Amin, led the inaugural drive‑past ceremony, which also showcased several green initiatives along the route. Route 47 is equipped to generate solar power and includes a dedicated cycle lane under the Green Punjab program. An artificial lake for water storage forms part of the project’s sustainable design.
Local commuters have welcomed the new artery, noting that what was once a congested 20‑minute journey can now be completed in under five minutes.
Authorities say the smooth flow of traffic on Route 47 will alleviate pressure on surrounding roads and bolster connectivity within Lahore’s rapidly expanding CBD.
