Israeli police and the domestic security agency Shin Bet have arrested two Jewish Israeli citizens on suspicion of spying for Iran.
According to Israeli media, citing spokespersons from both Shin Bet and the police, the arrests took place during an overnight raid in the city of Yamam, conducted by the elite counter-terrorism unit of the Border Police. The two suspects are accused of engaging in espionage activities on behalf of Iran.
In a statement, Shin Bet said that during the ongoing intense campaign against Iran, it has observed attempts by the enemy to exploit information obtained from Israeli civilians in order to harm the country. These efforts have manifested in attacks targeting densely populated areas and strategic sites.
