Several international airlines have begun using Pakistan’s airspace as an alternative route due to widespread airspace closures in the region.
According to sources, multiple foreign carriers — including Emirates — have started rerouting their flights through Pakistani airspace. Flights are now passing over western Pakistan before heading toward Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Turkiye, and beyond.
The shift comes as the airspaces of Iran, Iraq, Syria, Jordan, and Israel remain closed due to the escalating conflict.
Israel’s Ben Gurion International Airport will remain closed to both landings and takeoffs for a third consecutive day, the Israel Airports Authority announced on Sunday.
Officials say efforts are underway to coordinate with domestic airlines to facilitate the return of Israeli citizens stranded abroad.

The Jordanian Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission announced the reopening following a reassessment of security and airspace risks.
“All aircrews and aircraft are ready for action as soon as this becomes possible, but this may take a long time, depending on the security situation,” the authority said in a statement.
A decision to resume flight operations will only be made once it is deemed safe to do so, the statement added.
Meanwhile, Israel’s land border crossings with Jordan and Egypt remain open.
In related developments, Iran has also extended the closure of its airspace until 3pm local time (11:30 GMT) amid heightened regional tensions.
