Israeli President Isaac Herzog says the country has experienced a “very sad and difficult morning” after the Iranian missile strikes killed at least eight people and injured dozens more.
Denouncing what he described as “criminal Iranian attacks”, Herzog said in a post on X that he would pray for the wounded to recover and for the Israelis who are still missing to be found.
As we reported earlier, Israeli media outlets said dozens of people were reported missing after a strike in Bat Yam, south of Tel Aviv.
Iran has launched a series of missile strikes on multiple targets across Israel, including areas near Haifa and Tel Aviv, killing at least 10 people, according to medics and local media reports.
The escalation follows Israeli airstrikes on civilian and energy infrastructure inside Iran, including a major assault that ignited a fire at Tehran’s Shahran oil facility.
Israel’s military claimed its operation was aimed at facilities “linked to the Iranian regime’s nuclear weapons project.”
Tensions between the two countries have reached a new high as Day 2 of Iran’s Operation True Promise III unfolded with deadly force.
