A rare treasure trove of gold coins recovered from the walls of a house in France has been auctioned for $3.5 million.
In a small village in France, a collection of rare gold coins discovered inside the walls of an old house was sold for 3 million euros (approximately 3.5 million US dollars).
The coins were amassed by Paul Narce, who passed away in 2024. He was a modest man who led a simple life and rarely travelled, but devoted his entire savings to his passion for collecting rare coins. His collection included over 1,000 gold coins, many of which were centuries old and historically significant.
Paul Narce, had no children, and few people knew about his treasure trove. However, after his death, when someone searched his empty house, they found the hidden hoard concealed behind a painting in a storeroom.
The collection included ancient Macedonian coins (336 to 323 BC) and an almost complete series of French royal coins. Additionally, 172 gold 20-franc coins were found in ten packets, each worth roughly the value of a gold brick.
