Mild earthquake tremors were once again felt in parts of Karachi on Saturday morning.
According to the Seismological Centre, the earthquake struck at 9:54am and measured 3.2 on the Richter scale. The epicentre was recorded north of Malir, at a depth of 35 kilometres.
Tremors were particularly felt in the neighbourhoods of Quaidabad, Shah Faisal Colony, and around Gulzar Hijri and University Road. Residents in these areas reported brief shaking, though many said it lasted only a few seconds.
“People came out of their homes and offices for a short time after feeling the jolts,” said a resident of Shah Faisal Colony.
Seismologists confirmed that the quake was minor in nature and did not pose any immediate threat. “The seismic activity observed this morning is part of a low-magnitude pattern of quakes we’ve been monitoring since the start of the month,” a spokesperson from the Seismological Centre said.
This latest tremor marks the 39th instance of seismic activity recorded in and around Karachi since June 1, raising concerns among citizens and seismology experts alike about the frequency of recent tremors.
Authorities have urged residents to stay calm and follow basic safety precautions in the event of further seismic activity.
