Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari has expressed gratitude to US President Donald Trump for playing a key role in mediating a ceasefire between India and Pakistan amid recent tensions.
In a post shared on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) at the conclusion of a high-level diplomatic mission to the US, Bilawal said, “Thank you President [Trump] for your leadership in mediating a ceasefire between India & Pakistan. The PPP chairman, who was heading the diplomatic mission, reaffirmed Pakistan’s readiness to engage in dialogue with India, stating that Islamabad is willing to discuss all contentious issues at a neutral venue. “Pakistan is ready. Time for India to step up,” he wrote.
Bilawal also referred to commitments made by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and members of the Trump administration during the recent conflict, saying they had promised to facilitate talks between the two nuclear-armed neighbours.

“We hope the Indian government and the Indian lobby in Washington don’t sabotage your great efforts,” Bilawal added, urging India to reciprocate Pakistan’s desire for long-term peace and regional stability.
Previously also, Bilawal had urged the United States, particularly President Trump, to continue playing a constructive role in fostering peace between Pakistan and India by facilitating comprehensive dialogue, including on the Kashmir dispute.
In an interview with international news agency AFP, Bilawal welcomed the role played by the US in encouraging the recent ceasefire between the two nuclear-armed neighbours and emphasized the need to build on that momentum.
“Just like the United States and President Trump played a role in encouraging us to achieve this ceasefire, I believe they should play their part in encouraging both sides to engage in a comprehensive dialogue,” Bilawal stated.
A day earlier, the US president had once again praised the leadership of Pakistan, highlighting its role in maintaining regional stability.

During a joint press conference with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz at the White House, Trump credited Pakistani leaders for their cooperation in de-escalating tensions with India and preventing a potentially catastrophic conflict.
Recalling his role as a mediator and engagements with both Pakistani and Indian leadership during the heightened tensions and skirmishes between the two countries, Trump said: “I spoke to some very talented people on both sides ... and I said, you know, we’re dealing with you on trade, Pakistan and India right now. I said we’re not going to deal with you on trade if you’re going to go shooting each other and whipping out nuclear weapons that maybe even affect us."
