Adviser to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs, Rana Sanaullah, on Saturday stressed the need for national unity and political consensus to sustain Pakistan’s journey towards economic stability and global recognition.
Speaking at a media talk in Faisalabad after offering Eid prayers, Rana Sanaullah said Pakistan is firmly on the path to economic progress, thanks to timely decisions taken by the government under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
He recalled how India unjustly attacked Pakistan in May but was met with a "befitting response" from Pakistan’s armed forces. “[Indian Prime Minister] Modi now hides his face around the world,” Sanaullah said, crediting the victory to Pakistan’s unprecedented show of national unity.
“Today, Pakistan is being recognized as a strong and powerful country. Our forces — from the soldier to the field marshal — deserve full credit for safeguarding our national dignity,” he added.
The veteran politician hailed the recent wave of respect Pakistan has gained on the international stage. “Countries that once hesitated to engage with us are now willing to walk alongside Pakistan. This is a moment of pride for our passport and our people.”
Rana Sanaullah urged all political leaders, including those from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), to rise above party lines and join hands for the country’s future. “The spirit with which we stood united on May 10 must now be used to achieve economic prosperity,” he stressed.
He welcomed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s willingness to engage directly with the opposition and called on rivals to accept his invitation for dialogue rather than resorting to letter writing or public criticism. “This opportunity must not be wasted. Let’s sit together and create consensus on crucial matters, including electoral laws. If Pakistan prospers, political opportunities will open up for everyone."
The PML-N leader warned against returning to political infighting at a time when Pakistan is gaining momentum globally. “If we get entangled in our own issues again, it won’t be good for the country,” he said.
In conclusion, Rana Sanaullah reiterated that the time has come to move beyond divisions and make decisions in the national interest. “Pakistan has moved forward. Let’s not drag it backward for personal or political gains.”
